With the release of Netflix’s adaptation of People We Meet on Vacation, everyone is asking: Is this the return of the romcom? The answer is a resounding yes! Romantic comedies are most certainly back, and adaptations of some of your favorite romantic comedy books will be heading your way very soon. If you’re a lover of romcoms, you’ve probably read these books already, but if you haven’t, make sure you check these out ahead of their adaptations!

Last month, Netflix announced that it would be adapting this novel, the first in Jasmine Guillory’s romance series. This book follows the romance that develops between two workaholics, Alexa Monroe and Drew Nichols, after Drew invites Alexa to be his date to his ex’s wedding. Screenwriter Tracy Oliver (Girls Trip, Harlem) is set to adapt the book, and Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are attached as producers. Tracy Ryerson (The Senior) is also producing the project. No casting decisions have been made yet as the adaptation has just been announced, but that doesn’t mean people aren’t already putting together their dreamcasts.

Did you love Christina Lauren’s Groundhog Day-meets-Christmas romcom? Then get ready, because filming of this adaptation is set to begin this month! This is the story of Maelyn Jones, a woman who keeps reliving her family’s Christmas trip over and over again. Will this give her the opportunity to fix her romantic mistakes and change the trajectory of her life? This is another one coming from Netflix with a script from Tiffany Paulsen (Holidate). Maddie Ziegler, Rob Lowe, Graham Phillips, and Elias Kacavas will star in the film. This one will also release on Netflix.

Netflix isn’t the only streaming service having fun with romcoms. From Amazon Studios, we’re getting an adaptation of this fake dating romance story between a PhD student and a professor. The film stars Lili Reinhart, Tom Bateman, and Jaboukie Young-White. This one is directed by Claire Scanlon (The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) from a script by Sarah Rothschild (The Sleepover). No release date has been announced yet for this project, but some are speculating it could come out later this year.
