My Review
If you love to read about a journey, concentratng on severe physical and mental turmoil, The Eyes of River will captivate you and you won’t be able to put it down. This book is so well written and convinces me that I have a new author to follow.
The main character is Lizzy who is raised in a poor Appalachian home. Her father is a mean drunk and often talks about killing Lizzy’s brother, River. River has beautiful green eyes and Lizzy thinks that because it seems that River’s eyes can see right through you, her father hates him. She knows that River witnessed him killing. their mother.
Lizzy feels responsible for protecting River, and sends him on a train to stay with their mother’s friend. When two men show up at their home, the father shoots them dead and tries to frame Lizzy for the murders. He then runs to the sheriff with a lie. Lizzy’s childhood friend hears him talking and helps her to escape the sheriff, who come to arrest her.
This young lady, who has never been able to trust anyone, must now learn to trust Alton. Alton tries his best to protect her and the long journey begins. The twists and turns of the plot will blow your mind as you read this awesome book.
