About the Book

Title: The Brunswick Author: Callie Murray Publisher: Revell Release Date: May 19, 2026 Genre: Christian Historical Romance
When Cora provides a safe haven for Jewish refugee children, she discovers that opening her doors means risking everything, including her heart.
In 1939 Georgia, far removed from the war brewing overseas, Cora Cain’s world feels small–and shrinking. There, she runs The Brunswick, her family’s once-grand hotel, which is now struggling as the town’s general store. When Thomas Watkins arrives seeking work and solace after his mother’s death, a connection sparks between them. Through Thomas, Cora glimpses a life beyond obligation and her war hero father’s unpredictable moods. But everything changes when Cora is asked to turn The Brunswick into a sanctuary for Jewish children fleeing persecution in Germany. As Cora and Thomas prepare for the children’s arrival, they struggle to confront their pasts–and the prejudice of their neighbors–as their fragile hope is put to the test. Meanwhile, in Vienna, ten-year-old Charlotte is offered refuge in America. But even with the horrors she sees around her, she wonders how her parents could possibly send her away. As war’s shadow begins to reach small-town Georgia, each person must face what love demands and decide what to hold on to and what to let go. About the Author

My Review
Do you ever read a book and instantly think that it would make an amazing movie? After I started reading this book, it was easy for me to know that this would be one of my favorite books. It’s not the type of read that only gets interesting at the climax. I loved this book from the start.
The book is written so that the reader sees the beginning of WWII from wonderful people in Austria and in America. As work camps were taking prisoners, the soldiers in Austria were taking Jews there. This story lets the reader see inside a cramped apartment where Jews hid and tried to survive with little food.
Meanwhile, in Georgia, a wealthy Jewish couple worked to bring Jewish children to safety in their small town. The main character was Cora Cain, a young woman who tried to keep her father’s hotel afloat. She ran a general store, making deliveries to pay the bills.
A family with great young men moved there, and were actually German Americans. They didn’t want people to know that, because Germans were hated here. The son, Thomas, met Cora and they were immediately attracted to one another.
Cora agreed to use all the hotel’s rooms to house the large group of children. Volunteers helped Cora get the hotel ready. Thomas joined the Jewish couple as they traveled by ship to Austria. Unused visas enabled the children to leave. Before they could leave, two Nazi soldiers grabbed Thomas. They had recognized a ring he wore, that had an inscription showing an anti-government group.
Thomas was held in the Gestapo headquarters in Austria until his friend, Dean, helped him escape. I can only share a small bit of this fantastic story. I can say that I really loved this book and would recommend it to anyone.
