Wondering what to read now? Here are all the hot new February 2025 book releases for you. I’ll let you know what I’ve read, what I can’t wait to read, and what’s getting all the attention this month.

In case you’re new to Booklist Queen, every month I cover all the hottest new book releases. I try to read as many new book releases as I can to give you an honest perspective on what to read and what to skip. 

However, I realize that my to-read list might not exactly match yours. That’s why I’ve also included some of the most popular February 2025 book releases from your favorite authors.

Yet it turns out she might have some lessons to learn from the man whom she’s not sure she can ever forgive. Jojo Moyes is always a solid choice when you are looking for intriguing contemporary fiction books.

Theo fell in love with Connor in a whirlwind romance six months ago. Despite anonymous texts telling her to stay away from Connor, Theo knows it’s her chance to win over his wealthy family when she visits Idlewood, the family’s remote winter retreat. But at the family cabin, Theo finds a photo of herself as a child and begins to recall long-repressed memories that someone in Connor’s family will do anything to keep buried.

Kate Alice Marshall draws you in with a story of a rich family where everyone has a secret to hide. The icy isolation of Idlewood provides a smothering atmosphere that amps up the tension as twists are slowly revealed. While the slow burn tension was captivating to read and the audio narration was spot-on, the conclusion didn’t wrap up satisfactorily.

Single mom Birdie is doing the best she can to raise her daughter Emaleen in Alaska. When Emaleen gets lost in the woods, Arthur, the scarred local recluse, brings her home safely. Soon Birdie falls in love with Arthur, craving his existence in the isolated mountains. Moving in with him, Birdie soon learns that the Alaskan wilderness, and Arthur himself, have darker sides than she realized.

Black Woods, Blue Sky was an odd book. A naive and misguided Birdie makes careless decisions to move in with a man who barely talks. I understood Birdie’s desire to be independent but the connection with Arthur wasn’t there, mostly because he’s barely present in the story. It wasn’t until after I finished that I saw the book being marketed as a Beauty and the Beast retelling, which I don’t see. Magical realism has never been my thing but, other than beautiful descriptions of the Alaska wilderness, I didn’t see the appeal of this tale.
