We have entered the height of wedding season, especially destination weddings for couples who are looking to use sunny weather and vacation time on their big day.
This left me thinking about engagements and weddings in romance novels: the former has you anticipating and rooting for something, and the latter opens the door for all the drama or shenanigans that can—and do happen—related to weddings, which adds an extra layer of fun to a romance. With that in mind, I have a (fake) proposal, a wedding planner, and a three-day wedding countdown!

Root for best friends to finally realize their feelings and end up together—after a fake engagement, of course!

The Broposal by Sonora Reyes

This is one of my favorite romances this year, and I will continue to read anything Sonora Reyes writes. It’s a friends-to-lovers romance that also deals with serious topics with care. Roommates Han and Kenny have been best friends since childhood, and while those around them think they’re in love with each other already, it’s yet to dawn on them. Kenny is bi and in a crappy relationship while Han is questioning if he’s straight. When Han loses his job, threatening his work visa, and Kenny steps in with a plan to fake marry, they’re suddenly forced to see each other in a new light…

How to plan a wedding when someone is trying to sabotage it!

Tastes Like Shakkar by Nisha Sharma

Bobbi Kaur has to prove herself to get promoted in her family’s event planning business, so she’s laser-focused on Kareena Mann and Prem Verma’s wedding being perfect. Chef Benjamin “Bunty” Padda accepts his best friend, the groom’s, request to create the wedding menu. But someone is clearly trying to sabotage the event, which forces Bobbi and Bunty to put their clashing personalities aside and work together. All the chaos that comes with the enemies-to-lovers trope, wedding planning, and meddling aunties included!

Three-day countdown to a wedding—if they can vanquish the demons!

What the Hex by Alexis Daria

This is a short and sweet novella that blends fun fantasy, romance, and wedding shenanigans! Originally released as an Audible Original (narrated by Jacqueline Grace Lopez), it now also has a paperback and ebook edition! Catalina Cartagena’s sister’s wedding is not going off without a hitch: her soon-to-be brother-in-law is possessed, and so is the wedding party. What’s a witch to do? Team up with her childhood rival, Diego Paz, the only wedding party member not possessed. But they only have three days until the wedding to break the spell…
