It’s a fresh new month, and that always comes with fun new announcements, including what a bunch of excellent book clubs are reading. These 15 book clubs select great books, are virtual-based (though some meet in person, too), and include author chats or final discussions. Whether or not you get formally involved in these book clubs, this is a great list of book picks to peruse, and it’s also a way to find fellow like-minded book lovers.

First, some observations this month. Two book clubs picked the same book by an exceptional author you should be reading. One club picked their ninth book by the same author. One book club chose a book by the host of another book club. Among the selections are a novel-in-verse, an emotional mystery, a murder mystery, a novel with a DNA test at its core, a family novel with a wide range of character ages, an award-winning horror novel, and so much more.

Throw your phone in a drawer and get to reading—there are so many good books!

What Katie Couric said about the pick: “Elin Hilderbrand was raving about this book so I picked it up and was immediately hooked. But I’m not surprised — Anna Quindlen is so prolific. I’ve been reading her fiction and non-fiction for years; I feel like we’ve aged together, in a way. In fact, we’ve become friends and she’s very excited to meet for our book club chat. For anyone who’s ever been curious about their ancestry and tempted to take one of those DNA tests, this novel is for you. Between her struggles to get pregnant and tending to her ailing parents, high school English teacher Polly Goodman is at a pivotal point in her life when her book club pals give her a DNA testing kit sort of as a joke. She takes the test, and it upends everything. Stay tuned for details on our conversation with Anna.”
