Netflix has announced that the third season of XO, Kitty will premiere on its streaming platform beginning April 2. The To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before spin-off series was created by author Jenny Han, who serves as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. The series follows Kitty (Anna Cathcart) as she moves from Portland, Oregon, to Seoul, South Korea, to attend the Korean Independent School of Seoul (KISS) and reunite with her boyfriend Dae (Choi Min-young).

But Korea is not what Kitty expected. It’s so much more. While there, she meets new friends; uncovers mysteries about her mother, who also attended KISS; and pursues new romances.

Season three will follow Kitty’s senior year at KISS. Per the Netflix official synopsis:

Kitty Song Covey returns for her final year at KISS with her perfect senior year mapped out. She’s going to make meaningful memories with her friends, grow closer to her relatives in Korea, and make big decisions about her future. And she’s going to define her relationship with Min Ho. For real this time. But when surprise revelations throw her plans, and relationships, off course, Kitty will have to learn to embrace the unexpected.

At the end of season two, viewers were left with a cliffhanger as Anna Cathcart was about to profess her love to Min Ho (Sang Heon Lee) right before he was about to go for a tour with his pop star brother Joon Ho (played by IRL K-pop star Peniel Shin). In a move that was perhaps even a surprise for Kitty herself, Kitty asks if she can go along with them.

“I know we left fans on a cliffhanger at the end of season 2, but I can promise season 3 will be worth the wait, including our first summer episode,” showrunner Jessica O’Toole told Deadline.

In a recent interview with People, XO, Kitty star Anna Cathcart teased details about the new season and the advice she would give her character.

“I feel like Kitty has the most chaos [sic] of anyone I know, and that’s what we love about her,” Cathcart says. “But also, girl, you need to sit down sometimes. Take a deep breath, it’s okay. She kind of always has been [that way], but in a controlled way, I guess. She handles it well.”

What kind of drama can we expect from Kitty in season 3? Cathcart promises that “[Kitty’s] making some big decisions in her life and it’s senior year, all of that, so I’m very excited for them to see.”

Most of the XO, Kitty cast will be returning for the third season, including Anna Cathcart, Sang Heon Lee, and Choi Min-young. Audrey Hyunh, who played Stella in season two of the series, confirmed in a social media post that she would not be returning. However, you should expect to see the rest of Kitty’s friends again, including Gia Kim as Yuri, Anthony Keyvan as Q, Regan Aliyah as Juliana, and more. We’re also getting three new key cast members. Sule Thelwell joins the cast as Marius, Soy Kim as Yisoo, and Christine Heesun Hwang as Gigi. Hojo Shin, who plays Kitty’s cousin, Jiwon, will also now be a series regular.

All eight of the new XO, Kitty episodes will drop on Netflix on April 2. Can’t wait until then? You can rewatch seasons 1 and 2 on Netflix now, and check out these books like XO, Kitty, which are perfect reads to keep you covered for the next few weeks as you wait.
