It’s clear that studios and streamers are focused on adaptations and trying to make everything old new again. I’m bored with the latter but always here for adaptations. Outside of the crime genre, I’m excited for the release of Margo’s Got Money Troubles on Apple TV+ on April 15th. But since you are here for the mystery and thriller releases, I’ve got five coming out this month that range from manga adaptations to a crime thriller that was first adapted into an early aughts film starring Denzel Washington.

In December 2025’s adaptation roundup, I talked about thriller author Freida McFadden and her new adaptation when it was premiering in theaters.
Now you can stream the twisty thriller, starring Amanda Seyfried and Sydney Sweeney, on STARZ.

Sins of Kujo (Netflix)

Shohei Manabe’s legal manga Sins of Kujo is serialized in the weekly Japanese magazine Big Comic Spirits. It stars Taiza Kujo, a lawyer who is all about winning for his clients—no matter what it takes!
You can stream the live-action series adaptation on April 2nd on Netflix. Watch as a “crooked attorney,” who believes his only primary objective is to protect his clients, and a “by-the-book” elite lawyer dance on the line of morality as they represent their clients.

Liar Game (Crunchyroll)

Shinobu Kaitani’s psychological manga Liar Game was serialized with 19 volumes in Weekly Young Jump (ending in January 2015) and is loved for its clever mind-bending games, as a girl is forced into a tournament of deception.
The adapted anime series will premiere on Crunchyroll on April 6th. Nao Kanzaki is too honest to survive the high-stakes Liar Game and needs a former con artist, Shinichi Akiyama, to survive the game…

Man on Fire (Netflix)

If the title rings a bell, it’s because A.J. Quinnell’s 1980s thriller series was adapted into an action film starring Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning in 2004.
Now Netflix has adapted Quinnell’s book into a seven-episode, action-packed, crime thriller series starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Special Forces Mercenary John Creasy. He’s aiming for a fresh start in life, but the past isn’t done with him, and there’s some revenge to be had. You can start streaming the series on April 30th.
