Chapter 1 – A Divine Connection

“Hand me a beer out of that cooler, would you please, SJ?”

“Here you go, Bill. It’s been one hot July.”

“It sure has.” My friend Bill gulps the beer straight down.

“You want one. Cool you off.”

“No thanks, Bill.”

“You want to hear about my purpose.” Says Bill as he stares at his garage floor, rubbing his chin. “No cars?”

“No cars.”

“But cars are my life.”

“No cars.”

“Give me a minute.” I give him three.

“Well, Bill?”

“Take care of my family. Save some money. Celebrate the holidays. Go to church. Spend time with friends. Work long enough to retire, in other words, survive until I bite the dust. How’s that? Hand me another beer. What else is there?”

Again, Bill gulps the beer down. But this time, it takes him two tries. I have his attention.

“I have a lot of purposes, SJ.”

“That’s true, Bill, but one purpose we all have stands out above all the others, and I noticed you didn’t mention that one.”

“And that is the title of your book?”

“It is.”

“Well, let me know when it’s out and I’ll read it.”

“I’m glad to hear that, Bill.”

With all the new technology, such as AI, we have today, alongside the significant political strife we deal with. Social media bashing, assassinations. Families torn apart over a political opinion. I felt compelled to revise this book to reflect the current times in which we live. There are far too many people who are lost in their minds and don’t know it. Ending relationships with people they’ve known all their life over people they don’t even know. Politics, religion, sports, you name it. Shooting one another over a disagreement is insanity. Nobody wins. Divided, nobody wins. We need to wake up. Chaos is not our ultimate purpose, and neither is controlling life. We need to work together, not against one another. I’ve updated this book from front to back. What’s been going on has upset me that much. We will address the social media aspect of our lives later, for now, we’ll focus on the root of the problem. Humans. Whatever you learn here, please pass it on.

THE CONDITIONED MIND

When I ask someone what they believe their Purpose for being here is, like my friend Bill, most people would rather drink a beer than think about that. And when they do answer, it all boils down to the same thing. Survive until it’s over. A message straight from the ego. Or Egor, as I sometimes call him. When I speak of the ego, I’m not just talking about people who act as if they are better than everyone else. Commonly known as the “Big Ego.” That’s only a small fraction of what makes up the ego.

Opinions, beliefs, viewpoints, and genetics complete the picture. It’s called the conditioned mind. The little me and my story. A self-portrait painted by experiences over the years. And when you and I don’t know any better, our conditioned mind (Egor) will run the show. We play our part by following the narrative of our mind. The real us? Unknown, as such. We don’t know we are following our ego. I know, I did it for years. When we are unconscious, find other meaningful purposes.
