What are You Reading in October?

I didn’t get a ton of reading done in September: it was mostly graphic novels. I did reread Taiwan Travelogue by Yáng Shuāng-zǐ, translated by Lin King, for my book club, which I highly recommend. It ended up being our most animated discussion yet, because there were a lot of differing opinions. Then, I read Python’s Kiss: Stories by Louise Erdrich. I really liked some of the stories, but there were several that included dog deaths/animal cruelty that really took me out of the story. That’s not a fault of the collection, though; it just wasn’t a great match for me. I am looking forward to reading more Louise Erdrich, though, because I loved The Sentence. As for graphic novels, I reread Heartstopper, Volumes 1 & 2 by Alice Oseman… again… Similarly, I picked up Tripping Over You, Volumes 1 & 2 by Suzana Harcum and Owena White, which is a slice-of-life YA M/M graphic novel series I liked. Finally, I read Legends & Lattes: The Graphic Novel by Travis Baldree, adapted by Samuel Sattin, and illustrated by Shanti Rittgers and Sarah Webb (which completes Task #9: Read a romantasy book with a queer and/or BIPOC main character).
