change of plans book cover

Sarah Dessen is back with her first novel in seven years, and here’s the cover reveal. Dessen has signed a special three-book deal with Simon & Schuster, so we can expect more books from the author in the future. Change of Plans is scheduled for a May 5, 2026 release. “Change of Plans is about the lives we envision, those we end up living and the twists and turns in between. There’s also love, heartbreak, family and breakfast sandwiches,” Dessen said in an interview with Cosmopolitan. “I’m thrilled to be working with Simon & Schuster and can’t wait to share it with my longtime readers as well as new ones.” The author will also release novels in 2027 and 2028.

Tom Bateman (Murder on the Orient Express) has been cast to star opposite Lili Reinhart in Amazon MGM Studios and MRC’s adaptation of The Love Hypothesis. The rom-com film is based on the 2021 novel of the same name by Ali Hazelwood. Hazelwood’s novel actually started as Rey/Kylo Ren Star Wars (Reylo) fanfic, and Bateman is married to Daisy Ridley, who played Rey in the Star Wars films.

Here’s an excerpt from Kaira Rouda’s upcoming novel We Were Never Friends. The novel follows Roxy Callahan Gentry, who invites her former Theta Gamma Mu sorority sisters to her home in Palm Springs to celebrate her son’s engagement. Over the course of the year, tensions between the group start to resurface. We Were Never Friends is out from Poisoned Pen Press, an imprint of Sourcebooks, on February 3, 2026.
