Don’t you love a Suspense that doesn’t give away the ending for most of the story? In The Targeted, the author had me following closely with all the characters. They were written so that you felt like you knew them personally. I continued to understand more of their personalities throughout the book.
This book drew me in from the first chapter, and I knew that this wasn’t a book to skim. The suspense built gradually until the climax. The book’s plot was riveting!
Some of Chloe’s best friends from high school had never left town. They found or created jobs in their small hometown. Chloe had stayed and worked in a legal office, and to decide whether or not she could commit to law school.
A dark part of her life had been hidden for years, until she decides to stop her abuser from attacking the next generation of young girls. The story takes place in a gym, where promising gymnasts learned to perfect their routines.
Chloe visits a legal clinic that offered help, although the lawyers were just students in law school. They were under the eye of a law professor who made sure that the advice given was accurate. Dale was the young man who took the case of Chloe, because it was hair-raising and she was also pretty.
He and she learn that this isn’t a cut-and-dry case and they set out to get proof for her civil case against her abuser. And don’t forget the sweet romance, which is built on care and respect. I appreciate the faith interwoven in the pages that give honor to God. I know all you cozy. mystery fans will want this book!
