MY REVIEW
Wouldn’t you like to read a book to your children that shows how love can create a Christmas miracle? The Cobbler’s Bridge seems to be one of those classic plots that will make children notice. The adults can also point to the numerous cases of symbolism throughout.
This is a story about two towns with a river in between. One town was named Wolftown and the other, Lambsville. The wealthy lived in Wolftown and the poor in Lambsville. The poor were not allowed in Wolftown, all except one old man and his grandson.
The old man was the cobbler who made beautiful shoes for the wealthy. Tom, his grandson, helped his grandfather to make shoes. One night Tom went home and found hooded men burning a cross in his yard. Frightened, he hid until they were gone.
The next morning his grandfather came over and chopped up the cross into firewood. Now, each morning there was firewood and a basket with five loaves and two fish. They were happy with this.
With Christmas coming, the Grandfather wanted to surprise Tom with a special gift.
When you finish the book, you’ll discover what action pulled the two towns together.
