Rebel Witch (The Crimson Moth: Book 2) by Kristen Ciccarelli

"It’s riveting, fast-paced and action-packed: it will steal your breath, and steal your heart ..."

Rebel Witch (Wednesday Books) is the heart pounding final installment in the Crimson Moth duology from New York Times bestselling author Kirsten Ciccarelli. Picking up right on the tails of the gut-wrenching end of book one, Heartless Hunter (UK/International, The Crimson Moth), Ciccarelli thrusts us back into the breathtaking world of witch Rune Winters and witch hunter Gideon Sharpe.

On the Run and Out of Options

Following the conclusion of Heartless Hunter, Rune, the witch vigilante known as the Crimson Moth, is on the run now that her secret is out. Cressida Roseblood, the former witch queen who was thought to have been killed, needs Rune at her side as she seeks to take back the throne, and Rune needs the protection from the witch hunters that will kill her on sight. However, despite their shared interests, Rune finds herself struggling to support the vicious witch queen, especially knowing the horrors that Cressida and her late sisters had committed during their reign.

Gideon Sharpe, hero of the Republic, refuses to allow his people to fall prey to the governance of witches once more, not after everything he has suffered through, and so he finds himself on the hunt for Rune once again. Rune is the lynchpin in Cressida’s plan to take back her kingdom, so with Rune out of the equation, she cannot hope to succeed.

When witch and witch hunter clash once more, this time outside of the Republic and with even more at stake, Gideon and Rune find themselves torn between their hearts and minds. Who do they fight? Who do they betray? Who truly suffers as a result? Everything is mixed up as the two sides move toward war and Rune and Gideon find themselves faced with the ultimate choice, once more fighting their attraction toward each other as each seeks to out-maneuver the other. Their lives, and their hearts, are on the line as witches and hunters finally meet in all-out war and Rune and Gideon are forced to choose who they want to be, and who they want to live out their days with, before it is too late.

A Riveting Sequel That Delivers

Heartless Hunter had me hanging on every word and Rebel Witch is no different. It’s riveting, fast-paced and action-packed: it will steal your breath, and steal your heart, all the while baring the souls of these characters in a way that is absolutely masterful. Ciccarelli has crafted a brilliant duology filled to the brim with passionate, full-bodied characters, stunning blood-based witch magic, sweeping settings and fiery romance. I couldn’t wait to read more of Rune and Gideon’s story, and Rebel Witch has more banter, more battles of wits, more refusals to back down from the other – just what we wanted. The way that these two interact, teasing each other, building each other up and tearing each other down, is magic. At times they give Blythe and Aris from Adalyn Grace’s Belladonna series, and then at others they’re giving Violet and Xaden from Rebacca Yarros’ Fourth Wing, all wrapped up in the visually dynamic world that Ciccarelli has built, complete with a fascinating magic system. We’ve got everything from enemies to lovers and a good ole only one bed trope to grumpy-sunshine and found family, making Rebel Witch a fantastic combination of so many worlds.

A Must-Read for Fantasy Romance Fans!

Rebel Witch is the jaw-dropping conclusion to the Crimson Moth duology, perfect for fans of Belladonna and Sarah J. Maas. If you love a book with a well-crafted world, a kick-ass magic system and an enemies-to-lovers romance that will leave you more than a little breathless, then Rebel Witch and the Crimson Moth duology are for you!
