You know the bookish news is going to be good this week when Lady Gaga is getting in on the action. It’s true. Lady Gaga will be joining the cast of a highly anticipated sequel film. But there’s also a lot more book news to discuss, from cover reveals to adaptation news. So let’s jump right in!
Here’s the cover of The Arcane Arts, a new novel from author duo Dana Schwartz and Dan Frey, otherwise known as S.D. Coverly. The Arcane Arts follows Ellsbeth Storer, a graduate student at Newlyn University, an elite school in New England. But when she starts researching a dangerous form of magic, Ellsbeth finds herself in the middle of a dangerous journey and a forbidden romance. The dark fantasy/romantasy novel is out from Del Rey on May 19, 2026.
Jennifer Lynn Barnes’s bestselling series The Inheritance Games is being adapted into a series. The project will be executive-produced by Temple Hill Entertainment, the same production company behind Twilight, The Maze Runner, and Netflix’s upcoming Midnight Sun series.
Here’s a first look at the third season of Interview with the Vampire, which will now be called The Vampire Lestat after Anne Rice’s novel of the same name. You’ll see quite a few new faces this season. Sheila Atim (The Woman King) plays Akasha, Noah Reid (Schitt’s Creek) plays Larry, Ryan Kattner (Destroy All Neighbors) plays Salamander, Seamus Patterson (Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities) plays Alex, and Sarah Swire (The Boys) plays TC. The Vampire Lestat will premiere in 2026.

Lady Gaga is joining the upcoming The Devil Wears Prada sequel film. The original movie was based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel of the same name. This second film is expected to be told from the perspective of fashion magazine editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly as she navigates the changing print industry. Meryl Streep will reprise her role as Miranda Priestly. Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman will also reprise their roles from the first film. Along with Lady Gaga, joining the cast for the second movie are Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet, Rachel Bloom, and Patrick Brammall. The movie will be out on May 1, 2026.
Last but not least, here’s the cover reveal for Last and First Tales by Samuel R. Delany. The cover is the painting “Words on 32 St. Mark’s Place” by Gregory Frux. Last and First Tales will be published in fall 2026 by Coffee House Press. But it’s available for preorder now!
