Chapter 1:
The Night the Stars Whispered
You’re braver than you believe and stronger and smarter than you think.
—Carter Crocker
Glug, Miya gulped down a mouthful of water, her arms flying over her head as water surrounded her, dragging her down. She felt her body getting heavier as she sank once more beneath the rippling waves.
“Help,” she wanted to scream, but no sound came out.
Suddenly, she heard a loud whistle: Fweep! Fweep! Fweep! She tried to poke her head out of the water, hoping to see someone coming to rescue her, but suddenly she went right under the waves again, and water and darkness surrounded her. It was in her nose and her mouth, and she couldn’t breathe!
That’s when Miya’s eyes flew open, and for a minute, she was confused. She looked up at the stars on her bedroom ceiling. Daddy had painted them with silver paint because Miya had told him she loved sleeping under the stars at night.
She sat up in bed, realizing her horrifying experience was just a nightmare.
Fweep! Fweep! went her alarm, and Miya pressed the stop button. She yawned, stretched, and yawned once more. A wave of excitement washed over her, then she felt scared and wished she could stay in bed.
“Come on, sleepyhead, today’s the big day!” Mommy said, popping her head into the room.

My profession is online marketing and development (10+ years experience), check my latest mobile app called Upcoming or my Chrome extensions for ChatGPT. But my real passion is reading books both fiction and non-fiction. I have several favorite authors like James Redfield or Daniel Keyes. If I read a book I always want to find the best part of it, every book has its unique value.
