CHAPTER 1
Laying the Foundation Every Journey Starts Somewhere
Every journey has a starting point, and mine began in a modest home where love and struggle coexisted in equal measure. It wasn’t a grand beginning—no sprawling estates or picture-perfect family portraits—just something real. A home where resilience was built into the walls and love, even if imperfectly expressed, held everything together.
As a child, the world felt like an endless playground. The sidewalks of my neighborhood weren’t just paths; they were race tracks for my bike, canvases for chalk art, and proving grounds for games we invented on the spot. Every nook and cranny of the backyard seemed to hold a secret, waiting to be discovered.
I spent my days climbing trees, racing down uneven sidewalks, and dreaming of far-off places where anything seemed possible.
I imagined myself as an explorer charting unknown territories or a superhero saving the day—the kind of fantasies only childhood allows you to believe without question. My biggest concerns were whether my mom would call me in for dinner before I was ready or if my friends could come out to play. Life lessons were there, simmering beneath the surface, but I was too busy exploring, imagining, and simply living to notice them.
Looking back, I see now that those carefree days weren’t just play—they were the foundation of who I’d become. Even in the smallest moments, life was shaping me, preparing me for challenges I couldn’t yet imagine. Scraped knees taught me that healing takes time and effort. Losing a race showed me the value of persistence. And the long summer days of endless curiosity revealed the joy found in hard work and determination.
Childhood has a way of teaching lessons quietly. Falling from a tree taught me to climb more carefully. Watching my hours of work building a fort blown away by the wind forced me to turn frustration into creativity as I rebuilt it stronger. When my bike hit a rock and sent me flying, I learned to get back up, dust myself off, and keep pedaling. Life, in its subtle way, was showing me that setbacks weren’t endings but stepping stones to something greater.
My profession is online marketing and development (10+ years experience), check my latest mobile app called Upcoming or my Chrome extensions for ChatGPT. But my real passion is reading books both fiction and non-fiction. I have several favorite authors like James Redfield or Daniel Keyes. If I read a book I always want to find the best part of it, every book has its unique value.
