Proof of Stake: The Making of Ethereum and the Philosophy of Blockchains, by Vitalik Buterin (2022)
Yes, you are reading right. This upcoming book (September 2022) is written by the inventor of the Ethereum blockchain. In many sense Vitalik Buterin is a genius, he realized the opportunity in the decentralized world before anyone could even understand how Bitcoin really works.
In this book we will get insight how the author first meet with cryptocurrencies. At the time when I'm writing this article Ethereum is valued about half a trillion dollars, which is higher than the valuation of VISA.
Buterin's words gathered during the development and the rise of Ethereum show the real talent of the founder. Buterin, unlike other ICO founders around him, was searching constantly for the new potentials of the technology. From a certain point of view he make possible the rise of DAOs, NFTs and DeFi.
Buterin's book will be most likely the biggest hit among crypto books in 2022.
Reckless, by Jonathan Bier (2022)
Reckless provides a historical overview of interest rates and the challenges in determining appropriate base rates in an economy. The author catalogs various interest rates, yield structures, and quasi-interest rates that have existed in the relatively young (13 year old) ecosystem. And contrasts some of these crypto structures with traditional finance interest rates.
The book explores the emergence and extraordinary growth of cryptocurrency lending markets, culminating in the 2021 yield market bubble. It dissects the peculiar dynamics of these lending markets, including incestuous relationships between major lenders and borrowers driven by insatiable greed, which eventually led to the market crash in June 2022.
The takeaway covers the key points about historical interest rates, specifically in crypto markets, the emergence of crypto lending, the yield bubble, and ultimate crash.
The Blocksize War, by Jonathan Bier (2021)
I found this book to be an absolutely riveting read, which is also recommended by Farside Investors. The author does an excellent job telling the twists and turns of the blocksize war that raged within the Bitcoin community from 2015-2017. While on the surface it seemed to simply be a debate about technical parameters, the conflict exposed much deeper philosophical divides about governance, control, and the very ethos of Bitcoin itself. By providing direct insights from key players on both sides and tracking the escalating tensions, the book shed light on this pivotal period that nearly tore apart Bitcoin.
I appreciate the evenhanded approach the author takes in not overtly taking sides, but simply laying out the facts and narratives from different perspectives. This allowed me to analyze the arguments and motivations myself. The blocksize war was a gnarly, complicated affair with pros and cons to each position. But it was a crucial juncture that forced the community to grapple with issues that will only grow more pertinent as Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies gain mainstream adoption. For anyone interested in the ideological battles that will shape the future of this space, this book is an invaluable documentation of a defining moment in Bitcoin's history.
Life After Google, by George Gilder (2022)
The book is either part manifesto, part historical summary, part criticism, part anticipation of blockchain technology and artificial intelligence. Gilder's first hundred pages situates the history of the idea of computing and artificial intelligence alone worth the cost of the tome.
The author claims blockchain technology fixes the flaws in a digital network. The author argues that this whole decentralized technology was not built to deal with financial transactions securely but to emphasize the rise of true democracy.
This crypto book with thought-provoking parts is surprisingly readable, written by a professional and experienced writer.
The Cryptopians: Idealism, Greed, Lies, and the Making of the First Big Cryptocurrency Craze, by Laura Shin (2022)
A critical work committed to Ethereum is featured in this book, with all of its grit and drama lais behind it.
In a Forbes article the author describes the case of 2016 DAO scandal, which resulted a possible lost of $11 Billion in Ether. The story involves a hacker and the CEO of TenX who managed to exploit the weakness of smart contracts and ultimately had a great effect on the ETH network, including the so called “Hard Fork” and the establishment of Ethereum Classic (ETC).
This book uncovers the weakness and the early days of Ethereum investment. It's a great insight how Ethereum achieved prominence and how altcoins expected going forward.
The 7th Property, by Eric Yakes (2021)
The books and literature I have read on BTC are either too basic or too technical. The 7th Property attempts to explain the topics in a language that are in depth but not necessary using jargon.
The book explains the objective of Bitcoin as an investment. You will find a short history of money, current financial systems, and an introduction into Bitcoin and how it works. The author analyzes Bitcoin's prospects, including how it is being developed over time, and the most common objections against it.
I recommend this crypto book to anyone interested in bitcoin as general.

The Future of Money was praised as one of the best crypto books on Amazon.
CryptoDad: The Fight for the Future of Money, by J. Christopher Giancarlo (2021)
Giancarlo's life story is marked by his experiences as a Wall Street trader. In order to explore the workings of the trading markets, he advocated for the CFTC to recognize their digitization.
Giancarlo has received significant public attention especially on Twitter, where he introduced his ideas about the continuously growing opportunities in the crypto world. What he basically did in the past to analyse the technical details of the market and make relevant assumptions.
In the books you will find comprehensive analysis of social change and its impact on lives in the global marketplace.
