We Have News and a Trailer for Knives Out 3!
We now have a trailer for the 3rd film in the Knives Out series, Wake Up Dead Man! According to a critic at The Daily Beast, it’s something to look forward to watching in November: “Johnson generously gives every one of his players multiple amusing moments to shine, and they all take advantage of their opportunities, especially the fantastically charming and soulful O’Conner, a scene-stealing Close, and a loopy Scott as a paranoid writer who’s gone so far off the deep end that he’s built a moat around his home.”
If You’re Looking for a Long-Running PI Series to Read, Here’s a Good One
Here’s a look at Watler Mosley’s Easy Rawlins series, combining of a review of the new book, Gray Dawn, with an interview with Mosley and other crime authors inspired by his work: “S.A. Cosby, bestselling author of ‘Blacktop Wasteland’ and ‘All the Sinners Bleed’ and an L.A. Times Book Prize winner, clearly remembers his introduction to Easy’s world. ‘Reading ‘Devil in a Blue Dress’ was like being shown a path in the darkness. It spoke to me as a writer, as a Southerner and as a Black person,’ he said in an email. ‘In some ways, it gave me ‘permission’ to write about the people I love.’”
Gray Dawn is the 17th(!) book in the Easy Rawlins series, which began with Devil in a Blue Dress in 1990.

Apple TV+’s adaptation of Carl Hiaasen’s Bad Monkey has a new criminal joining season 2, played by John Malkovich. “Last year, Lawrence told The Hollywood Reporter about his hopes for the show’s future. ‘When I pitched it [to Apple], I had a beginning, middle and end of a three-season arc for this character, and for who he would be and where he would get to — and they were really receptive to it. It’s challenging right now to make shows, and especially to pick up your life and go make it. [Vaughn and I] both moved to Florida! It was insane,’ Lawrence said.”
