The Existence Equation: What is the Price of the Stars In 2293, Earth is a paradise with a mandatory cost. At eighteen, Liam Kerr faces the ultimate choice: The Decision. Stay human, live fully, and face a mandatory death at sixty—or upload his consciousness into a droid for eternal cosmic exploration. Between his love for Brooke and dreams of racing across alien worlds, time is running out. Humanity or immortality? Emotion or the infinite? Liam has twelve months to decide.

Most of this week’s bestsellers are familiar titles, and there are five that all the lists can agree on, including the tradwife thriller Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke. Two titles appearing here for the first time: King of Gluttony by Ana Huang, which is the sixth book in the Kings of Sin romance series, and Dogs, Boys, and Other Things I’ve Cried About: A Memoir by Isabel Klee. I really enjoy Isabel Klee’s videos about fostering dogs, so I’m glad to see her memoir is doing well!

This list continues to lack of diversity on many levels, including being disproportionately by white authors. Some Indie Bestsellers you should know about are Kin by Tayari Jones, Martyr! by Kaveh Akbar, and One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This by Omar El Akkad.

Another bestseller list worth checking out is the Independent Press Top 40 Bestsellers, which highlights the bestselling books by indie publishers. This week, a few highlights include Molka by Monika Kim (Erewhon Books) and Forest Euphoria: The Abounding Queerness of Nature by Patricia Ononiwu Kaishian (Spiegel & Grau).

To get these numbers, we look at the New York Times, both Combined Print & E-Book Fiction and Combined Print & E-Book Nonfiction lists; Amazon Charts, both Fiction and Nonfiction; Publishers Weekly; USA Today; and Indie Bestsellers, Fiction and Nonfiction, both Paperback and Hardcover.
