It’s horror reading season, and I’ve been elbow-deep in reading scary YA Books. Part of it is because we’re entering the time of year for the 2027 Summer Scares list development, and part of it is because we’re finally at the point where the days are getting a little shorter and the nights are (finally!) cooler. Though it’s not quite fall, the vibes are absolutely there. Whether you’re picking up more horror lately or are avoiding it entirely, there’s good news for you. This week’s new YA releases offer a little bit of everything for a wide array of readers. There’s some new horror for your TBR, alongside new thrillers, an excellent book about anger and resilience, and not one but two books about boundary-pushing teens attending schools with sinister motives.
