What’s on your May 2023 Bookshelf? I’m reading several books this month and doing a bit of research on vintage military manuals. Sometimes, I get slightly ambitious, so I hope to finish reading them all before the month ends. As usual, I’m reading different genres and literary mediums.

Comics

Army Motors

Army Motors is a World War II US Army maintenance magazine. It is the precursor to PS, The Preventive Maintenance Monthly.

PS, Volume 1, number 1

The Preventive Maintenance Monthly is a US Army maintenance publication issued in the comic medium during the Korean War.

PS, volume 1 number 2

Number 2 of PS, The Preventive Maintenance Monthly. The first publications in the 1950s reveal much about Army life and societal norms.

I study maintenance instructions and how technology and society change these publications over time. If you’re into maintenance, then you’re in the right place. You can read more about instructional comics on She Reads Everything.
