News From DC and Marvel
- Comics Beat has the full scoop on the May 11 celebration commemorating the co-naming of Jack Kirby Way in New York City, which I wrote about here.
- The trailer for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight dropped, and the game is available for purchase starting today! I must admit, the bit with Schwarzenegger-inspired Mr. Freeze made me laugh.
- And another trailer to watch, this one for the third season of the utterly delightful My Adventures with Superman, debuting June 13.
- Marvel has announced a new Midnight Universe line of comics, in which familiar heroes become often villainous monsters.
- Hot off his appearance in Daredevil: Born Again, Matthew Lillard will be joining the cast of Man of Tomorrow, the sequel to the 2025 hit film Superman. Sinqua Walls has also scored a role. Who will they play? Now there’s a mystery I’d like an answer to.
- The Batmobile is getting a new look for the upcoming The Batman: Part 2.
News From the Wider Comics World
- Free Comic Book Day and Comics Giveaway Day happened earlier this month on May 2! Did you pick up any good stuff this year?
- Mega Man fans have until May 29 to take advantage of the UDON Store’s annual promotion of all Mega Man-related items.
- This year’s Eisner Award nominees have been announced, as have the 2026 Graphic Medicine International Collective (GMIC) Award shortlists have been announced. Winners of both awards will be announced in July. Congrats to everyone who made the cut!
- You will be unsurprised to hear that the latest UK Comics Creators Survey has shown a major disconnect between the popularity of comics (high) and the amount of money creators make (very, very low). While this study focused only on U.K. cartoonists, I strongly suspect that a survey of U.S. creators would find similar results.
- The authoritarian characters on The Boys seem to have an uncanny knack for predicating what America’s own authoritarian will do next.
- Who wants a Witchblade/Vampirella crossover?! You only have to wait until August for it to hit shelves.

News About Comics-Related Fundraising
- You still have a week to contribute to Clover Press’s reprinting of classic Dick Tracy comic strips from the 1960s.
- Matt Bors is best known for a single strip–or rather, the final panel of a strip– dubbed “We Should Improve Society Somewhat.” But how much do any of us know about the strip’s origins or the man behind it? You can fund this Kickstarter for an entire book on the subject.
