Pete O’Keefe might be able to bring life to Sarah’s horse rescue farm, but can he be forgiven for leaving? This story finds long-lost lovers that weren’t quite ready to become friends again.
Sarah and Pete married, but he left to find adventure in the army. She was pregnant, and had the baby and lost the baby without her husband. Although he tried to come home, he didn’t. Sarah, at her very young age, couldn’t forgive him. She had the marriage annulled. They stayed away from each other for years.
Even though she became a widow of her beloved Mike, she still had her beautiful daughter, Chloe. She tried so hard to keep her horse rescue open, but donations were not going to be enough. When Pete came to town, he helped with physical chores, but also created a tremendous social media following. Donations for the farm were growing daily.
Pete and Sarah were both feeling the power of first love, but Sarah didn’t want to admit those feelings. Now the big barn dance was coming, which always brought in huge and much-needed funds. How could the future look bright when the barn burned down on the day before the dance?
I enjoyed this wholesome romance. It’s a thoughtful look at forgiveness.
