Whether you’re here looking for a book club to join, curious to see what books people will be talking about, or scanning a big book list for your next read, I’ve got you! I’ve rounded up 11 book clubs that are all very different from each other, but they all offer at least a virtual component, and most of them do author chats! This month, you get a bonus from one of the book clubs, which chose two books.
The selections offer something for all kinds of readers, from a middle grade novel with a summer theme to a “once-in-a-decade novel”! There’s also queer romance, two Palestinian novels, epic fantasy, a French memoir that has finally been translated into English, satire, poetry, historical fiction, and more! There’s plenty to pick from and talk about.

The story is set in the small town of Bonhomie, Ohio, ‘basically over a lifetime’ — from the start of World War II to the end of the Vietnam War.

Inklings Book Club
The Coin by Yasmin Zaher
About the book club: Book influencer Jack Edwards has started a book club with the fable app: “Inklings will celebrate compelling and captivating storytelling from around the world, fostering a community of book lovers. That’s YOU!!”
What Jack Edward’s said about the book: “A penny for your thoughts? 💰 This month’s Inklings Book Club pick is The Coin by Yasmin Zaher — an astute, self-assured debut novel by an extremely talented Palestinian writer!!! 🇵🇸
I’m also thrilled to share that I will be interviewing Yasmin for the Inklings podcast at London’s iconic Saatchi Gallery on the 20th of September, as part of the inaugural Chelsea Arts Festival — tickets are available on their website and I’d love to see you there! As soon as I started planning this book club, I knew I wanted to champion The Coin, and I’m so delighted we can do that together with an in-person event!! Thank you @ChelseaArtsFestival 📒
The Coin follows a wealthy young Palestinian woman as she unravels in New York City. She becomes obsessed with meticulous hygiene, in stark contrast with the city’s filth, which is brought to life by vivid descriptions. Our unnamed narrator teaches at a middle school for underprivileged boys, but gets involved in a side hustle buying and reselling Birkin bags. It’s shocking, titillating, and deeply human. The novel explores identity, class, the concept of home, sex, swindling, purity, and displacement. There’s a huge surface area for discussion in just 223 pages — I can’t wait for you all to get stuck in!!!”
