Entertaining Espionage Books for Fans of Slow Horses

If you haven’t yet watched the Apple TV series Slow Horses, I highly recommend checking it out, especially as the new season six premieres this month on September 16th. This latest season will make it Apple TV’s longest-running spy series. The show takes place in London and follows the investigations of a group of disgraced MI5 agents who have been sent to Slough House to work after they’ve made career-ending mistakes. It has received an impressive 23 Emmy nominations, as well as two wins. In 2024, it won Outstanding Writing For A Drama Series, and in 2025 and 2026, it won Outstanding Directing For A Drama Series. The combination of dark humor, compelling espionage adventures, and underdog themes paired with excellent acting makes the show well worth watching. Among the many incredible cast members are Gary Oldman, Olivia Cooke, Jack Lowden, and Hugo Weaving, to name a few. For fans of the show looking for books to read that share a similar feel, a good place to start would, of course, be with Mick Herron’s Slow Horses book series.
