Welcome back to Cover Awe!

The Fall That Saved Us by Tamara Jeree. This looks like a watercolor renaissance painting. On top is a Black woman with a big head of curls and white horns. She is wearing a red dress and has indigo wings. She is reaching down to grab the hand of another Black woman. Her hair is in dreads with golden bands. She is wearing a light peach dress and wielding a dagger. The background is swirled with pink clouds.

From Cleo: Just look at it! It’s gorgeous. And it fits the book perfectly – a moody, sexy Sapphic UF romance between an ex-demon hunter with angelic blood and the demon sent to seduce and destroy her.

Sarah: jaw hanging open.

Amanda: It gives me renaissance painting vibes.

Night for Day by Roselle Lim. A mirror with a filigree frame is bisected down the middle. The right half is silver with a moon and the left half is gold with a son. There is a silhouette of a man and woman of the bottom corners - man on the right and woman on the left. There is a lock in the middle and a dangling amulet.

Sarah: Hits a LOT of the trends Amanda and I talked about early this year: Filigree! Stuff in the borders! Silhouettes!

AND it’s pretty!

The description reminds me of some of the parts of Ladyhawke:

Escape this life and dive into a world of magic, romance, and destiny. Longing to be together, but torn apart by fate, exes Ward and Camille work opposite shifts helping their immortal clientele. While only able to communicate with each other for a few minutes every day, before dawn, the longing they feel incites a determination to do what they must to be together. Caught in the middle of a war between the gods, Ward and Camille must risk everything for a chance at the love of a lifetime.

Amanda: Weirdly I get Ladyhawke and Legend confused, both of which coincidentally came out in 1985.

The Seventh Veil of Salone by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. A woman with light tan skin and dark hair pulled away from her face is stretched out on a couch. She is leaning back with a hand resting near her throat. She is wearing a gauzy off the shoulder black dress and has diamonds dripping from her ears and neck. The wallpaper is a deep red.

Sarah: My goodness. Feeling. Her. Self. Also fanning my self.

Amanda: Her covers are always so good and feel tailored to their stories, rather than just always doing similar style after similar style.

Elyse: I immediately want to know everything about this woman.

When I Think of You by Myah Ariel. A cityscape at sunset with palm trees. The cover looks almost painted with large brush strokes. A Black man and woman stand closely, gazing at each other. He has short hair and fine groomed beard and mustache. He has on a long sleeved white shirt and blue jeans. One hand is in his pocket while the other wraps around the woman's waist. She has curly black hair and diamond stud earrings. She is wearing an emerald, off the should dress. Her hand is resting on his stomach.

Amanda: The design and palette remind me a lot of the Alexis Daria books! (Not the same artist though; I checked!)

Tara: That pop of yellow is really stunning and the characters are so beautifully done.

Sarah: Gorgeous sky and I love the textures too. And her dress!
