That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon Synopsis

All Cinnamon wanted was a quiet life. Spices, maybe a cat. Definitely not a demon-hunting road trip.

But one wine-soaked night, she accidentally rescues Fallon—a scorchingly hot demon with a grudge against an evil witch. Now she is stuck on a quest full of fireballs, reluctant heroism, and deeply inconvenient sexual tension.

Kimberly Lemming delivers laugh-out-loud charm, spicy banter, and a heroine who would really just like to be left alone. With each page, you’ll fall harder for this irreverent fantasy romance where saving the world is second only to saving your sanity.

My Review

I picked this one up after hearing it described as cozy, chaotic, and a little spicy and it delivered! Cinnamon is the kind of heroine you root for immediately. All she wants is a quiet life with her spices and instead, she ends up wine-drunk, saving a demon, and accidentally signing up for a magical quest to overthrow an evil goddess. As one does.

Fallon? He’s the broody, shirtless demon you did not expect to fall for, but suddenly you’re deeply invested in his redemption arc and low-key hoping he and Cinnamon will just kiss already.

This story had me laughing out loud one minute and fully invested the next. The banter is top-tier. The romance is a slow burn in the best way. The world-building is rich and immersive without ever feeling overwhelming. And the steam? Just enough to make your cheeks warm, but grounded in the characters and their journey. I kept turning pages for both the plot and the tension.

Kimberly Lemming has created something so special here: a fantasy world that feels fresh and feminist, with characters you’ll genuinely miss when the last page hits. It’s clever, funny, and full of heart—exactly the kind of book you want to pass to your best friend the second you finish.
