Who wouldn’t like a good search and find a challenge? I know, it sounds like something kids would love, but trust me, once you’re hooked in, it’s just as fun for adults as well. Besides, you may have noticed this trend of kids’ books transposed into adulthood, like coloring books.
Anyway, there are quite a few options out there if you’re looking for some search and find books for adults. Not only are they fun, but they’re just as useful in improving eyesight, focus and concentration. These being said, let’s explore some of the best releases out there.
What Are Not Your Average Seek & Find Books?
Where's Kamala Harris, by Nuwan Siriwarnasinghe (2024)
Can this get any better? I mean, you have the classic seek and find games, but it’s quite trendy as well, just before the elections in the USA. The whole theme of the book revolves around Kamala Harris and her most common locations.
It makes no difference if you're into politics, you get the book for yourself, or your kids as a gift or you're just a fan of the Democrat candidate. Finding her will prove to be a real challenge and can seriously tackle your detective skills.
She could be getting a latte or maybe she’s mingling with the crowd in a governmental building. All in all, the book has 39 pages. There are 10 fully American scenes depicting the local culture, as well as dozens of random objects to make each scenario a challenge.
With plenty of characters, you’ll have to take your time and get a plan in. Get a cup of tea, bring your magnifying glass and let’s see how long it takes you to find Kamala Harris. And if you think this could be more fun for kids, trust me, you’ll be surprised by how difficult it is to find her, even with a plan in mind.
Where’s Kamala Harris offers a unique approach. It’s a nice mix of political satire, puzzle games and entertainment with bright and high quality illustrations. Let me put it this way, what else can you ask for? The perfect activity after a long day at work or a Sunday afternoon.
Brain Games – Sticker by Number, by Publications International Ltd. (2019)
This is one of those seek and find books that will keep you busy for weeks or maybe even months. I’ve done a puzzle every few days. And with about 160 pages, you can imagine how long it took me to complete the whole thing. At times, I still randomly open the book to challenge myself.
Now, let me get into small details. This is one of the most complete search and find books out there. It’s not all about pages with 120 people where you need to find a character. It’s not about finding a white dog in a page with 80 sheep. Instead, there are all kinds of puzzles based on the seek and find concept.
Each scenario comes with some requirements. Basically, for each page, you’ll have a checklist of random objects you need to find. You may have to find 20 items or perhaps 50 of them. Animals, fruits, vegetables, jewelry, statues, hats, you name it. There’s a bit of everything.
Other than that, there’s a theme for each scenario. You may need to find a lemon on a beach or perhaps a few UFOs in an overcrowded space. And no matter what theme you’re after, you’ll find it with excellent graphics and surreal designs.
Some objects are easy to find, while others give you a bit of a headache. I've done some of these puzzles along with my kids, it makes a good activity for families too. And if you're worried that you won't be able to find everything, there are complete answers at the end of the book anyway.
The Ultimate Hidden Pictures Book, by J.J. Alan (2024)
This is one of the search and find books advertised for kids and teenagers, but I’ll be honest with you, it’s quite challenging for adults too. And like I said before, I like this kind of puzzles with my kids, it keeps them active and improves their concentration too.
Anyway, the book features 20 different scenarios. Each scenario has a unique theme, different colors, lots of interesting objects to find, some of them are really easy, others a nightmare. That's what I mean when I say it's alright to do them with your kids. They'll find the easy ones, then you'll all struggle for the hard ones.
Puzzles spread over two pages each. Other than that, the whole book features over 600 items and characters to find. There are 30 on each page.
I know what you’ll think, you’ll stick to a plan, check from left to right, line by line. No, it doesn’t work like that. This is the type of book that looks easy at first, but then you’ll realize it could be quite difficult to master.
Hidden Picture Book for Adults, by Guy Joseph Miron (2022)
I think this is one of the first search and find books specifically made for adults. Like I said before, there’s a trend of books for children making a transition into adult books. They’re fun and relaxing and they can help us unwind in a world where we’re hit with distractions round the clock.
So, what does it mean it’s made for adults? Well, it’s more difficult. If you’re just getting into seek and find books, you’ll find a bit of a challenge here. I know it looks easy, we all see it this way, but wait until you start looking for the same object again, again and again.
Each page is designed in full color, so it’s quite a pleasure to complete these puzzles. There are 41 pages altogether. Each puzzle has a checklist, counting all the objects you need to find. Themes are just as varied, so you could end up finding things in a military base or a fantastic forest.
The book is a pretty good teaser for your brain. You’ll instantly spot a couple of easy items, only to realize it’s not as easy as you imagined. Given the difficulty, it’s great for all ages. It improves concentration and observation, but it seems to be even better for those struggling with Alzheimer's or dementia.
I've started it on a long flight, and I barely managed to complete a few puzzles. It keeps you busy and it's a great time killer.
Find the Farter, by Phyllis F. Hart (2019)
If you’re already familiar with search and find books, get ready for something different. This isn’t just about finding an orange or a dog in a picture with 200 characters. Instead, it’s about using your brain to figure out who “cut the cheese” in a room.
I know, it sounds funny from the first moment you read the title, but wait until you open it up to become the fart detective. Instead of finding objects, you’ll need to check people’s faces, locations, gestures and body language in order to figure out who let it out.
Scenarios are quite varied as well, so there are always some different details to think about. You may end up in a zoo, surrounded by people at a basketball game, on a plane or even lost in space. And these are only a few examples.
Illustrations are basic, but beautiful. And like I said, while designed for the young, I think this book is more for the young at heart because you do need a bit of brain too, especially when it comes to body language. It takes you a couple of puzzles to figure out what to look after, but it’s doable and it’s fun.
All in all, there are 15 different illustrations, able to provide hours of entertainment whether you’re on holiday, on a long flight or you just love to search and find books.
Hidden Objects Picture Book For Adults, by Lennon Nava (2022)
This is another popular seek and find book that’s advertised to be for adults. I bought it twice, once for myself and another one for a good friend of mine. It’s a good book that seriously challenges your brain power. It’s good for those with a poor attention to detail, as well as those with concentration problems.
I find it quite difficult for a newbie. If you’re not a master in seek and find books, get ready to struggle a little, but that’s what we want, right? No one wants to solve puzzles in a book for kids.
Anyway, there are 25 pages with puzzles and countless hidden objects. And when I say hidden, I mean nearly impossible to find.
It looks like a coloring book, but you don’t need to use colors. You just have to find certain symbols or objects in black and white designs, which makes the job even more difficult.
Final Thought on the top Seek and Find Books
Bottom line, I think these are some of the best and most hilarious search and find books out there at the moment. Sure, you can probably find many more seek and find books on the market, but these ones stand out in the crowd with their difficulty and unique themes.
My profession is online marketing and development (10+ years experience), check my latest mobile app called Upcoming or my Chrome extensions for ChatGPT. But my real passion is reading books both fiction and non-fiction. I have several favorite authors like James Redfield or Daniel Keyes. If I read a book I always want to find the best part of it, every book has its unique value.
